Best Juicer for ginger
Review and Buyers Guide
Edited by: Vegan Agility Team , Last updated: November 25, 2020
Ginger is by far one of the best root vegetables to juice due to its overwhelmingly impressive nutrient profile. It contains a large amount of magnesium, copper, manganese, potassium, and fiber and contains vitamin b1 through to b9, vitamin C, and vitamin E.
Studies have shown that ginger has many great health benefits from aiding with osteoarthritis and reducing muscle soreness after exercise, through to reducing morning sickness in pregnant women and supporting overall cardiovascular health.
Making ginger one of the most essential ingredients for anyone trying to get a significant nutritional boost through juicing.
The biggest struggle with juicing ginger and turmeric is the abnormal texture and shape, especially with the ginger root. The stringy texture of turmeric and ginger can be prone to getting stuck and clogged if used in a juicer not equipped for these types of vegetables.

The best juicer for ginger and turmeric will fall into the slow masticating category which provides the most optimal settings to extract the highest amount of juice but with so many products out there claiming that their product is the be-all and end-all of juicing it can be hard to separate the quality from the marketing hype.
To help those genuinely looked for a juicer that excels with the uniqueness found with ginger and turmeric juice extraction, we have researched and sifted through all the relevant options out there and whittled them down to our top 5 picks.
Best juicers for ginger at a glance:
- Editors Choice: Tribest Slowstar
- Best juicer for ginger and turmeric: Tribest GSE 5050
- Best juicer for ginger and leafy greens: Omega NC900HDS
- Best budget-friendly ginger juicer: Aicok Slow Juicer
In-Depth Reviews of the best ginger juicers – (2021 updated)
1. Tribest Slowstar – Editor’s Choice
Juicer type, power, and speed
The Tribest slowstar is our number one pick for vertical masticating ginger juicer thanks to its duo-blade auger that easily breaks down firm ginger in an effortless manner. The 200 watts of high torque produced by the motor allows for high juice yield nutrient extraction while retaining enzymes and minerals thanks to the consistently slow speed and low temperature. The juicing outcome ends up being a deliciously flavored ginger extract with minimal oxidation which is perfect for making ginger shots.
Juice yield and pulp filtration
The vertical aspect of the Tiribest slowstar allows for the juicer to “self-feed.” This means you can place the ginger or turmeric into the 2.5inch wide chute without having to push the produce down consistently. However, the self-feeding function doesn’t mean you should place whole pieces of ginger in the shoot.
We still recommend cutting the ginger before juicing to make the process smoother. Ginger pieces that are too large can cause jams or clogs in the auger, which would require you to use the reverse function to unclog. Although the feature is handy, it is best to do the right prep beforehand to save on overall juicing time.
Size, part durability, and appearance
The most compact juicer on our list, this is our go-to recommendation for ginger and turmeric juicing in a compact living space. Another great benefit of the smaller size is a limited amount of parts, which makes the cleanup a quick yet pleasant experience.

2. Tribest GSE 5050 – Best Juicer for ginger and turmeric
Juicer type, power, and speed setting
The Tribest GSE twin gear juicer is the fastest slow juicer for ginger out of our top picks and is the only one with a twin gear system giving it a unique advantage over the competition. The 200w motor can rotate the stainless steel gears at a rate of 110rpm, which is 30-70 rpm faster than your average slow juicer giving you the benefits of a typical masticating juicer with minimal drawdown.
The juicer uses a form of mastication known as triturating, which means to reduce the particle size of a substance. The extra power provided by the twin gear triturating juicer allows the Tribest to excel above single auger juicers and extract higher juice yields from harder vegetables such as ginger root and turmeric.
Juice yield and pulp filtration
Like the Omega nc900hds, the Tribest comes with an adjustable pressure function that gives you the ability to adapt pressure sensitivities to the firmness of the veggies used inside the juicer, which ends up being a great help when trying to mix ginger with more than one type of produce.
Size, part durability, and appearance
The Tribest is a juicer on the larger side with dimensions of 18.8 x 6.8 x 12.4, so it is essential to take note of your available space before making the plunge. A smaller sized alternative that’s still effective at breaking down ginger root is the Tribest slowstar.
Extra features
The gse5050 comes with extras that turn a ginger juicer into a superpowered kitchen tool. With the additional juicer screens and attachments, you can homogenize various foods, creating things like nut milk or turning it into a food processor to grind beans for your favorite recipes.

3. Omega NC900HDS – Best juicer for ginger and leafy greens
The highly regarded Omega nc900hds is a masticating cold press juicer that feels like it was designed specifically for ginger juice extraction with a setup that allows for maximum juice yield from the most minimal fruits and vegetables.
Juicer type, power, and speed
It comes with a 150w motor, which is powerful enough to make the best use of the single horizontal auger while being quiet enough to run without disturbing anyone’s peace. The slow rotations of the single auger at 80rpm are slow enough to break down even the most robust ginger roots or turmeric pieces, making this our favorite juicer to get the most nutritious ginger shots out of all our top picks. Be careful, though, as the ginger shots can be overwhelmingly strong if you are unaccustomed to the strength and flavor.
Ease of use and clean up
Clean up after juicing is a relatively easy experience due to the small number of parts. The parts have been designed with fast assembly and disassembling in mind making cleaning a stress free process. Another aspect of the nc900hds that makes cleaning the juicer a breeze is the automatic pulp ejection that pushes the pulp out as you juice. This is an excellent time-saver since it prevents you from having to scoop out as much ginger pulp when your juicing time completes.
Size, part durability, and appearance
The long horizontal aspect of the Omega slow juicer means it is relatively wide, so it requires a fair bit of countertop space to fit optimally. It comes with an inbuilt handle and is relatively lightweight, so finding an appropriate place for it to slot shouldn’t be too much of a difficult task. If space is a major limiting factor in your kitchen space, then the Tribest slowstar is an excellent alternative ginger juicing option.

4. Aicok Slow Juicer – Best budget-friendly ginger juicer
Juice yield and pulp filtration
Most budget juicers tend to fall into the centrifugal category, using high speed spinning blades and centrifugal force to draw the nutrients from fruits and vegetables. This speed can be effective for some produce like carrots and sometimes beets, but for ginger and turmeric, the centrifugal-type just isn’t set up to extract a high enough juice yield to give results we could be content with.
The Aicok, however, was a pleasant surprise. A masticating juicer that falls into the cheaper price range yet can efficiently squeeze out a significant juice yield from ginger and turmeric roots at a level comparable to some premium alternatives.
Juicer type, power, and speed
The consistent pressure of the Aicok’s masticating augers backed with a reasonably quiet 150watt motor is slow enough with low enough temperatures to extract a sufficient level of nutrients without causing oxidation.
Ease of use and clean up
Being a cheaper masticating juicer, the Aicok tends to have much more plastic parts than the premium options meaning the juicer as a whole is less durable. Thankfully, all the plastic parts are BPA free and dishwasher safe, making clean up a quick and effortless process, especially compared to some of the more complex juicers with more parts.

Ginger Juicer Buyers Guide
Type of juicer and juicer speed
To make ginger juice, turmeric juice, or ginger shots, there are really only two types of juicers to be aware of to make the best ginger juices.
Masticating juicer
The masticating type of juicer tends to cause a bit of misunderstanding among buyers because nearly all brands label their juicers as masticating. Masticating typically means to grind or squeeze with teeth.
When juicing ginger with a masticating juicer, it will be ground and squeezed with a slow through a low speed rotating auger rather than chopped and cut with a fast spinning blade. This allows for more ginger juice extraction and less pulp wasted.
The slow speed is crucial to efficient masticated juicing and usually ranges between 45rpm (rotations per minute -110rpm)
So when you see products marketed as “Slow juicers,” take note that they tend to mean a juicer of the masticating kind.
The slow speed also allows for cooler temperatures, so whenever you see the term cold-pressed juicer, it’s also relating to a masticating juicer.
Low temperatures when juicing ginger allow for higher nutrient retention since hot temperatures can break down the nutrients in the ginger root.
The biggest downside is that they are generally more expensive. The best juicers for ginger will always be of the masticating kind.
Centrifugal juicer
Centrifugal types of juicers use a blade that spins at very high speeds, usually between 10,000 and 13,000 RPM (revolutions per minute) to break down your chosen fruits or vegetables, and the pulp is extracted using “centrifugal force” during rotation.
This can be effective to some degree with hard foods such as carrots, beets or parsnips but for more fragile thinner foods like wheatgrass or uniquely textured root veg like ginger, the high speed, and sharp spinning blades can potentially waste a lot of produce.
Two things to take note of:
- If your favorite ginger juices include leafy greens, then a masticating juicer is the type you need since centrifugal juicers are not equipped to deal with the thin shapes.
- Take note that the ginger juice yield extracted using centrifugal juicers will be lower than masticating juicers, so we generally recommend a juicer of a masticating type for ginger.
The big plus sides are that they are overall cheaper than a masticating juicer, and you get your ginger juice much quicker.
Motor & Power
High power is not synonymous with efficient juicing since a power that’s too high can cause nutrient degradation due to excess heat.
Centrifugal juicers have the highest power typically between 800-1000 watts, and this is used to power stainless steel blades quickly enough to break down the veg and separate the pulp.
Masticating juicers, on the other hand, use a low amount of power in the range of 100-250watts. The best ginger juicers will sit within this range.
This sounds relatively minuscule, but due to the slow rotational speed and the pressure applied with the auger, it’s more than enough to extract a very high juice yield and juice quality from ginger roots or turmeric.
Juice yield & Pulp extraction
Although a high powered motor will easily break down any hard vegetable, the downside to the power is a lot more noise when juicing, which can be problematic in the wrong household.
Yield
One of the key things to note is the amount of juice yielded in relation to pulp extracted. In general, masticating/slow ginger juicers will retain the highest juice yield since the slow cold-pressed process can squeeze out more without wasting food.
This is the case for things like greens and plant foods with a firm texture like carrots, beetroot, and ginger.
A centrifugal juicer won’t be able to extract as a high of a juice yield from ginger as a masticating juicer since the fast rotations of the disc do not allow optimal extraction from gingers unique texture.
Pulp
Another thing to consider is how Wet or dry the extracted pulp is after juicing. Dry pulp means a significant amount of juice was extracted. Conversely, wet pulp implies a lot of nutrients are still left over. Masticating juicers tend to have more ways to adjust for pulp extraction which can lead to dryer pulp and more ginger juice as a result. Some masticating juicers will have features that allow for pressure adjustments to maximize pulp filtration and control.
Ease of use
We all want our juicing process to be quick, simple, and no stress, which is why we think it’s important to understand the potential complexities of a juicer before purchasing.
Key things to consider:
- How easy is it to put together and take apart? Are there a lot of overall parts, do they seem delicate or durable and do they fit on easily without you having to google exactly how to piece everything together? Simplicity is key in this regard.
- How big is the feeding chute? The larger the feed chute, the less preparation you have to do before getting started. A smaller feed chute requires you to cut your ginger into smaller pieces for it to all fit.
*Vegan agility side note* depending on the size of your ginger pieces and the food you choose to juice it with, the juicer can get jammed if the pieces are too big so even with a very large feed chute we still recommend to at least quarter your produce to save the motor from having to work too hard.
Extra features like adjustable speeds for different food textures, self-feeding options, and a reverse function for if the ginger gets stuck during juicing are key things to look out for whilst picking the optimal ginger juicer.
Clean up
One of the most time-consuming parts of creating ginger juice is the cleanup. If a juicer is difficult to clean, you generally won’t want to juice with it much.
Main things to consider are:
- The amount of parts– More parts equals more things to clean. Single auger masticating juicers tend to be the easiest to clean since they have minimal parts and fewer places for things to get stuck.
- Are the parts dishwasher safe, and is there a large pulp container? Some parts may need a cleaning brush to make the juicer easy to clean. Other parts can be thrown in the dishwasher, providing that the parts are dishwasher safe.
Vegan Agility Tip: Always wash or at least rinse out your juicer straight after using it to prevent food from getting stuck to the juicer and making it harder to clean over time.
Size and appearance
Does the juicer require a lot of space? Some juicers, especially ones with horizontal augers, can be very wide, so taking note of the dimensions before picking is crucial to avoiding annoyance while juicing.
For those with limited space, a vertical juicer may be the best option since they can fit nicely in most kitchen counter corners without edging over the side.
Some premium brands come with multiple color options, generally with a few glossy plastic versions and a metallic variant. Finding a color that works well with your kitchen settings can make your juicer fit in with the decor nicely.
Value
The main things to consider when trying to determine value are price tag, parts, and warranty.
You may be able to find a cheap juicer that looks like a brilliant deal, but if the warranty is short and doesn’t cover all product parts, you may end up spending much more in the long run.
Warranties will vary depending on the budget.
- the lower range of juicers providing 1-3 years
- mid-range providing 5-10 years
- Upper ranges providing 10-15 years
The durability of the parts is vital in our reviewing process and should be one of the main factors to think about before you purchase.
Questions to ask yourself before purchase:
- Are the parts made of stainless steel or plastic?
- Is the plastic BPA free?
- Are the parts easy to replace if broken?
The more stainless steel parts that make up the product, the more durable and long-lasting the product will be. If the juicer comprises of mainly plastic parts, it will tend to be cheaper but may not hold up as well when juicing for long periods of time or with tougher vegetables ginger or carrots.
